WiFi Fused Spur Timer Switch

These instructions are for guidance only. Please read thoroughly before installation and retain for future reference. This device should only be fitted by a qualified electrician.

 

General safety instructions

  • Before commencing installation, ensure the mains supply to the device is switched off and the circuit supply fuses are removed or the circuit breaker is switched off
  • The device should only be fitted by a qualified electrician adhering to local regulations and guidance covering the installation
  • The device is designed to fit a 1-gang 25mm (minimum) deep back box 
  • The device can be used as part of a ring main and can accept 2x 2.5mm2 twin and earth conductors per terminal
  • An earth loop connector is supplied if required. If the device is installed in a metal back box, earthing to the back box is required

 

Installation

  • We recommend using plastic back boxes as metal back boxes may interfere with the wifi signal
  • If required, use a spacer to fit the device inside the back box
  • Connect the power supply to the terminals marked L IN (Live Input) and N IN (Neutral Input)
  • Connect the load to L OUT (Live Output) and N OUT (Neutral Output)
  • The load cable can be fed through the removable cable exit at the bottom of the device and secured with a cable clamp (supplied)
  • You are advised to double check all electrical connections at every stage of the installation
  • After completing the installation, there are electrical tests that should be carried out as specified in the UK wiring regulations BS7671

 

How to connect to wifi using the Tuya app

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smart device
  2. Install the Tuya Smart app from the Google Play Store or Apple App store
  3. Open the Tuya Smart app and create an account
  4. Select the + sign in the top right hand corner
  5. Select Add device – Note: you do not need to select the device manually
  6. Press and hold the wifi pairing button on the device for approx. 5 seconds until the blue wifi light begins to flash (this indicates the device has entered pairing mode)
  7. The app will automatically find the device within approx. 10-20 seconds
  8. Once found, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the set-up

 

How to set a schedule

  1. Open the Tuya app and select the device
  2. In the control screen, select Timer at the bottom of the screen

 

To set the programme to come ON:

  1. In the Schedule, select Add schedule at the bottom of the screen
  2. Select the time you want the programme to come ON
  3. Select the days of the week you want the programme to come ON
  4. Select Switch 1 and choose ON and Confirm
  5. Select Save at the top of the screen

 

To set the programme to turn OFF:

  1. In the Schedule, select Add schedule at the bottom of the screen
  2. Select the time you want the programme to turn OFF
  3. Select the days of the week you want the programme to turn OFF
  4. Select Switch 1 and choose OFF and Confirm
  5. Select Save at the top of the screen

 

How to link the device to Google Assistant and/or Amazon Alexa

  1. Open the device in the app
  2. Select the pen in the top right-hand corner (this is the Settings menu)
  3. Select ‘Third-party Control’
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the set-up

 

How to monitor energy usage

  1. Open the Tuya app and select the device
  2. Select Electric at the bottom of the screen to access the usage log, current (mA), power (W), and voltage (V) information

How to set the date and time

  • Before programming the device, it is recommended that you insert a pointed instrument into the RESET button for 5 seconds. The screen will then display CODE
  • Press and hold the TIME button for 3 secs until the display shows the YEAR setting
  • Set the YEAR using the BOOST button to go back and the ADV button to go forward
  • Press the TIME button to move onto the MONTH and set using the BOOST and ADV
  • Press the TIME button to move onto the DAY and set using the BOOST and ADV
  • Press the TIME button to move onto the HOUR and set using the BOOST and ADV
  • Press the TIME button to move onto the MINUTES and set using the BOOST and ADV
  • Press the TIME button to complete the time and date settings

 

Important:

  • The main switch needs to be set to the down position with the red line showing on top (ON) for the device to send power to the load.
  • The timer uses a 24hr clock. Holding down the BOOST or ADV increases or decreases the settings more rapidly.

 

How to set the programme schedule

  • Press and hold the PROG button for 3 secs to enter programming mode
  • The programme default option is to operate for 7 days a week
  • Press ADV to change the days of the week as follows:
    • Mo Tu We Th Fr Sa Su – The programmes will be the same every day
    • Mo Tu We Th Fr - The programmes will operate from Mon -Fri only
    • Sa Su - The programmes will operate on Sat and Sun only
    • Mo – The programme can be specific for each day
  • Once the days are selected, press PROG to set the ON time for programme 1
  • Set the hour using BOOST/ADV, then press PROG to set the minutes
  • Press PROG again to set the OFF time for programme 1
  • Repeat the process to set the OFF time
  • Press PROG to advance to programme 2 and repeat the process again
  • There are 4 programmes available for each day which can be set or left blank
  • Press PROG to exit programming mode after setting programme 4. Or, press and hold the PROG button for 3 seconds at any time to exit programming mode

 

Important:

  • When setting the programme schedule for the first time, note that the timer will not come on mid-programme if the programme start time is earlier than the current time.
  • The programme schedule works from midnight to midnight. If you want to set a programme to run across midnight, you need to set one programme to end at 2359 and the next programme to start at 0000.

 

How does the BOOST work?

  • Press the BOOST once to turn the load on for 1 hour. The display shows BOOST 1
  • Press the BOOST twice to turn the load on for 2 hours. The display shows BOOST 2
  • Press the BOOST again to cancel

 

How does the ADV (Advance) work?

  • When not in operation, the default position for the timer is to display OFF. This means that there is NO power to the load and the timer will operate as per the programme schedule.
  • Pressing the ADV button has 4 functions, as follows:

 

Press ADV once 

This changes the display to ON ADVANCE. This turns the power to the load ON. The power will remain on until the next programmed OFF time.

Press ADV twice

This changes the display to ON OVERRIDE. This is an OVERRIDE feature (and ignores the programme schedule). This turns the power to the load ON. The power will remain ON until you turn it off.

Press ADV three times

This changes the display to OFF OVERRIDE. This is an OVERRIDE feature (and ignores the programme schedule). This turns the power to the load OFF. The power will remain OFF until you turn it back on.

Press ADV four times

This changes the display to OFF. This is the normal operating state. The timer will operate as per its programme schedule.
